Hypertension Clinical Trial - The ZENITH Study

Hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure, happens when the force of blood pushing against the walls of your arteries is consistently too high. Think of it like water pressure in a hosepipe – if the pressure stays too high for too long, it can cause damage.

About the ZENITH Study

The ZENITH study is a clinical research study from pharmaceutical company Alnylam. It is evaluating an investigational medication to see if it may help heart health in people with hypertension.

Researchers want to find out whether this investigational medicine may reduce the risk of serious health problems, such as heart attack and stroke, in people with uncontrolled high blood pressure.

This study is available at our Manchester and London clinics. Participants may receive up to £1,125 for their time and commitment.

Who is More Likely to Have High Blood Pressure?

High blood pressure and heart problems are more common in people with certain risk factors. These include:

  • Smoking
  • Regular or heavy alcohol consumption
  • Being overweight or obese
  • Limited physical activity or an unhealthy lifestyle
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Existing heart or blood vessel disease

If you have one or more of these risk factors, and you are current taking antihypertensive medications for 2+ months, you may have a higher chance of being eligible for this study.
